Thursday, July 23, 2009 |It’s a boy for Kelis and Nas! The 29-year-old R&B singer gave birth to son Knight Jones around 9 p.m. Wednesday evening in New York City. The baby boy weighed in at 7 lbs., 8 oz.
According to her rep, Kelis delivered naturally with her mother and sister by her side after about 31 hours of labor. “The beautiful baby boy and his mother are doing wonderful,” she shares. TMZ is also reporting that Nas was indeed there for the birth, even though rumors are indicting that he wasn’t.
Kelis and Nas had been married for more than four years when they announced their separation in April. Citing irreconcilable differences in her divorce papers, Kelis seeks spousal support and child support in addition to seeking the joint legal and physical custody of their not-yet-born son.
Knight is the first child for Kelis and the second for Nas, who has a 15-year-old daughter, Destiny, from a previous relationship.
